Traditional Shetland Knitting Belt, or ‘Makkin Belt’ as it is known in Shetland.
For use with double pointed needles to anchor the needle for speed of working the stitch and to ease tension in the wrist.

Hand made on Fetlar in Shetland using traditional methods and materials.
Natural vegetable tanned leather, hand dyed, waxed for strength and durability.
 
Traditionally filled with quality washed upholsteryhorsehair mix fibres.  Alternatively can be filled with coconut fibre - please see separate listing.
 
The holes are a standard 3.5mm hole which fit a 4mm needle securely and can be used with smaller needles.  Holes can be made larger, smaller or with a selection of sizes.  Please message with your requirements.
 
All belts will be made to the new shape (please see images), images of the old (rounder shape) are to show colour options.
 
Avaiable in your choice of body colour, strap colour and edge lace colour.   
 
Available in the following sizes:
Small:  24"-37" (61-94cm)  (childrens, ladies size 6-12)
Medium:  33"-39" (84-99cm) (ladies size 8-16)
Large: 37"-44" (94-112cm)  (ladies size 14-22 )
X Large:  42"-52" (107-132cm)  (ladies size 20-32)

Should you prefer a belt made to a specific waist size please add waist measurement size when ordering.  There is no extra charge for larger sizes.
