Terms & Condition

What type of leather do you use?

Vegetable tanned, full grain leather, medium firm with a satin finish. This leather is very strong and durable.  This leather will become more supple with use and age with a beautiful patina.

Where does the leather come from?

The majority of the leather I use comes from a reputable supplier, this is what they say about their leather:

Sustainable sources:

We source all of our hides and skins from reliable, sustainable tanneries from around the world. The large majority of our leathers are a direct bi-product of the meat industry. None of the animals are bred specifically for their hides. We don’t stock any rare or “exotic” animal leathers.

Environmental Impact 

We are also very conscious of the chemicals used in the tanning of our leathers. Every one of our trusted and reputable suppliers strive to ensure that all environmental rules and regulations are met, in terms of both the chemicals and the processes used. All of our leathers comply with European standards.

We regularly submit our leather for REACH and BLC testing. This ensures that our leathers continue to meet with British and EU standards. We are happy to supply customers with said test results upon request. Please be advised that this will likely incur an additional surcharge as different tests will be required depending on the customers specific project specifications.

How much does a bespoke item cost?

Most items are made to order, so having a bespoke item made doesn't necessarily mean its going to cost more.

Can leather get wet?

Yes, leather can get wet and is very durable, however long periods in soaking wet and dirty conditions can damage leather. After getting wet, leather should be cleaned off with a damp cloth, allowed to dry naturally, once dry it should treated with a quality leather care product.

Why is hand stitched better than machine stitched?

Hand stitching is much stronger and more durable than machine stitching.  Please see image below.

Do you guarantee your work?

Each item is handmade to the highest standards with the best quality materials, however I have no control how you use or care for you item therefore I cannot guarantee my work.  With regular care quality leather item will last for many, many years. However upon delivery if you find your item unsuitable or faulty you may return it within 10 days for a complete refund. 

If the stitching has failed on an item within 12 months of purchase I will gladly re-stitch free of charge (excluding p&p) any item providing the leather is still satisfactory condition.

Can you make an item to my specific measurements?

Yes, of course! Just let me know what you would like and I will let you know if it is possible and give you a no obligation quote.

How do I place an order or get a quote for a bespoke item?

  • To place an order or receive a quote for a bespoke item please contact me and let me know the type of item you are interested in and supply me with your email address.

  • We can simply discuss all the options giving you prices for the various options.

  • If you choose to make the purchase you will then be invoiced via email where you have the option to pay through Paypal or bank transfer.

  • As soon as payment is received production of your item will begin (according to current production times).

  • Once your hand crafted item(s) is complete it will be shipped via a tracked courier and you will be notified with an update via email.

 

How long does it take to make an item?

As item are made to order, I only keep a limited amount of stock, therefore materials or fittings may need to be ordered.

The average production time is 7-14 days from receiving your order, but may take up to 21 days during busy periods. If you require an item for a specific date please contact me for current production times prior to ordering bespoke items.

How much is delivery?

Shipping is calculated at checkout and can be seen by adding items to the basket and then viewing the basket.

You have the choice of Standard shipping and Tracked shipping via Royal Mail, tracked shipping would always be recommended.

Please message for a personalised shipping quote for large quantities or countries not listed as available on the website.

Shipping costs are subject to change.

International orders may be subject to Customs Import Duties which will be the buyers responsibility, Lisa's Leatherworks will not be liable for any Customs & Import duties incurred.

Does delivery to UK Mainland cost extra? 

No, it's generally the same price anywhere in the UK that Royal Mail deliver to, but if shipping to your postcode generally costs more please contact us for a quote prior to placing an order.

How long is delivery?

Once items have been created they will be sent via Royal Mail Tracked which typically takes 3-5 days within the UK (including UK Mainland, Highlands & Islands)

Lost order?

All items are sent via Royal Mail, if Royal Mail fails to deliver your item then we follow Royal Mails lost item procedure.

*Royal Mail only considers an item lost after 15 working days of the date.

*Please first check with your local sorting office.

*Check with your neighbours.

*If the item is then truly lost we will claim from Royal Mail the value of your order on your behalf.  We will then re-make and resend your order, this will not happen until Royal Mail have investigated the claim.

Order Cancellation Policy

Our customers have the right to cancel their orders within 14 days unless their order has been dispatched. After the order has been dispatched, it is the customers responsibility to return the item in a re saleable condition and receive either a full or partial refund.

How do I return or Exchange an item?

We hope that the item you received is just as you imagined, however if you are not happy, need an exchange or received damaged goods then please contact us at lisasleatherworks@gmail.com

If you’d like to return or exchange an item please send the item back via tracked delivery with the original packaging.

What if I receive damaged goods?

In the unlikely situation that you receive a faulty product we will exchange it for an identical replacement free of charge provided that the product is returned to us in its original packaging and the fault is notified to us within a reasonable time period. The replacement is at the discretion of the management. Please note that fault during use, will be subject to checks and we may not be liable if the product has been damaged after being opened and worn / used.

Unwanted goods.

Please contact us before returning any items. A full refund (minus the cost of posting the item to you) can be issued for any unused returned goods. 

Exchange goods.

If any product that is purchased does not turn out to be the correct one for you then we will exchange it for the correct size, colour etc. provided that the product has not been used in any way and is returned to us in its original packing (if applicable) "as new".

If there is a problem then contact us immediately via email. If the item was ordered incorrectly i.e. wrong size or colour then a free exchange can not be made. Postage will not be free on the return item. If you have received an incorrect item, we will exchange the item and refund the postage up to £6.50.

Clearance Items.

Unfortunately we’re unable to offer refunds of clearance items unless they arrive in a condition that wasn’t described before making the purchase.

Terms & Conditions, cont.

  • Orders will be made to the sizes provided when ordered, We cannot be held responsible for your mistakes when measuring.  We cannot accept returns or offer refunds on items that were measured incorrectly.

  • Upon receiving your order, if it does not live up to your expectations you have the right to return them within 14 days.

  • Items must be returned in original packaging, unused, unmarked, undamaged condition.

  • Returned items must be return via a tracked courier.

  • We cannot accept returns on bespoke, personalised or embossed items unless there is a fault with the product.

  • If you intend on returning a product you must let us know within 7 days via email, please enclose your name, type of product you would like to return and the reason you want to return your item.

  • When returning an item you are responsible for postage costs.

  • A refund will be given within 14 days of receiving the returned item in satisfactory condition via the same payment method.

  • All items are made to order, please allow 4-6 weeks delivery.
