Traditional Shetland Knitting Belt, or ‘Makkin Belt’ as it is known in Shetland.

For use with double pointed needles to anchor the needle for speed of working the stitch and to ease tension in the wrist and shoulder.

Blue body, mint edge lace, brown strap.

Holes from  79-109cm (31"-43")

Hand made on Fetlar in Shetland using traditional methods and materials.

Natural vegetable tanned leather, hand dyed, waxed for strength and durability.

Traditionally filled with quality horsehair mix fibers.

The holes are a standard 3.5mm hole which fit a 4mm needle securely and can be used with smaller needles

These measurements are approximate and are a guide only.

Should you prefer a belt made to a specific colours or waist size please see the listing for a made to order belt.

When choosing a size please think about where on your middle you will wear it and whether you will be standing or sitting when using it - we all expand a little when sitting!  There is often room to add additional holes on the belt strap, equally any excess length can easily be snipped off.

A small selection of double pointed needles are available, in stock, that can be purchased with your knitting belt - please message for details.

Comes in a linen storage/gift bag.

This item is ready made and usually shipped out within 2 days.
